Acupuncture Q & A

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture uses hair-thin needles to direct the circulation of oxygen, hormones, blood, electrolytes, and nutrients to the testes or ovaries, improving the quality of either.

The Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness is known and respected by reproductive endocrinologists with a long track record of success in treating infertility.

How does acupuncture promote healthy pregnancies?

Acupuncture increases blood flow to your ovaries or testes. Your fertility quotient will improve by delivering oxygen, nutrients, electrolytes, and hormones to these reproductive organs.

Thanks to this process, acupuncture is proven to foster better pregnancy outcomes. The Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness supports assisted reproductive medicine treatments like in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intrauterine insemination (IUI) and employs acupuncture and other proven techniques to aid your journey toward a healthy pregnancy.

What can I expect from my acupuncture treatment plan?

The Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness treats patients twice weekly until you achieve pregnancy. Once pregnant, you’ll continue regular treatments for 13 weeks to mitigate miscarriage. Ninety percent of miscarriages occur by or before the 12th week of conception.

Mike can also provide telehealth consultations, working with you and your doctor or acupuncturist across the globe to ensure everyone gets the fertility support needed.

How does acupuncture prevent miscarriage?

The Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness assists fertility but also focuses on preventing miscarriage.

A prevailing reason for miscarriage of otherwise healthy, chromosomally normal embryos is insufficient blood flow (with all the vital oxygen and nutrients that go along with it) during yolk sac and placental development, causing the fetus to stop growing and miscarry. Acupuncture helps prevent this.

How does herbal medicine complement acupuncture?

Acupuncture can be considered a direct treatment; for example, directing blood to the ovaries or testes to improve the quality of eggs or sperm. You'll receive acupuncture twice weekly.

Herbal medicine treats from the inside out; you'll take herbs twice daily, seven days a week. Herbal medicine ensures that your eggs, lining, yolk sac, and placenta receive proper blood flow daily.

Because acupuncture and herbal medicine complement each other perfectly, The Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness may use both to give you the best care possible.
